Video Summary:

“Are Supplements Necessary To Build Muscle And Lose Fat?”

“Do I need supplements to build muscle and lose fat?”

I receive a ton of questions every day on the topic of bodybuilding supplements, and having been involved in this industry for over a decade, it’s clear just how much the average lifter over-emphasizes and over-uses these products.

Always remember that muscle building supplements are precisely that – they are SUPPLEMENTS that are only there to give you a very small extra edge in and out of the gym.

The boost that bodybuilding supplements do provide is relatively minor and will only make up a very small percentage of your overall progress.

Think of supplements as simply being the icing on a big cake, where the cake represents proper training, nutrition and recovery.

Are supplements necessary to build muscle and lose fat? No, they are not “necessary”, and you can still achieve results very close to or all the way up to your maximum genetic potential without them.

Not only that, but only a very small handful of these products will actually have any noticeable muscle building or fat burning effects in the first place.

Just like I discussed in a previous video several months ago, MOST of the supplements available are quite simply bullshit that won’t do anything except thin out your wallet.

All that said, I’m not “anti-supplement” – all I’m saying is that people place far too much importance on them and believe they play a much bigger role than they actually do.

IF your training and nutrition is on point, then there are a select FEW bodybuilding supplements that work and that can help out a bit, such as creatine monohydrate, beta alanine, certain vitamins/minerals, fish oil and a good protein powder. (You can check out my fitness supplement guide in the description box for more info)

So bottom line on the question of “are supplements necessary to build muscle” is that no, they aren’t NECESSARY, but they can provide a very small extra edge in some cases if your goal is to absolutely maximize your results.

Just keep things in perspective and understand that the benefits are minor and that your training and nutrition is where nearly all of your focus should be put.
